The AI index for destination companies

See who AI recommends in your region.

Guests ask AI what to do in your region, and the answer often leans on your pages. Lykt shows which local businesses the answer recommends, market by market, with figures you can put to your board and members.

  • Six AI engines
  • No ranking
  • First edition planned for January 2027

The product

What you get

One product, one login. It all builds on the fixed measurement behind the index: Norwegian tourism regions and municipalities, measured in the guests’ own markets and languages.

The gap

AI names the waterfall. It does not recommend the café by the waterfall.

When guests ask what to do in the region, AI answers with the sights. The businesses that take guests there are not always in the answer. The index counts how often that happens, and the workspace shows where.

The map

The region on the map, in the sample edition

The map shows whether each region is clearly above, clearly below or in line with the pilot area. Regions are never ranked, and a region without enough answers is shown without a figure.

Norway has 66 tourism regions. Three sample regions have figures: Sample region A and Sample region B are clearly above the average for the pilot area, and Sample region C is measured without a comparison group. The other regions have no figures in the sample edition. All figures are sample figures.

The map as a table
The three sample regions, alphabetical
RegionGroupLocal share, all markets
Sample region A Clearly above the pilot area 78 %73 to 83 %, of 202 answers
Sample region B Clearly above the pilot area 62 %57 to 67 %, of 207 answers
Sample region C Measured, no comparison group Not published, too few answers in one market

Source: Lykt, sample edition. Sample figures, not measurements.

The region overview

The region, market by market

Of everything AI recommends for a region: the share located in the region itself. That is the local share, here for each market with interval, and the businesses in groups. Shown with sample figures for Sample region A.

Recommended often and recommended sometimes: no businesses in the sample edition. It has few answers per business, so only the lowest group has names.

The workspace

What you see when you log in

Four tabs with the region’s figures from the index, in depth.

Overview

  • Local share per market, with interval and comparison group
  • The number of sights without a local provider
  • A4 sheets and reports for the region, from the first edition

Businesses and sights

  • The businesses in three groups, alphabetical and never ranked
  • Sights named without a local provider, by name
  • Which businesses are recommended instead

Questions and sources

  • Figures per question and per AI engine
  • The sources the answers link to for the region
  • Up to 3 short excerpts per question, with engine and date

Members

  • Businesses in the region will be able to share their own Lykt data with you
  • Each business picks the scope itself, and can withdraw sharing
  • Figures across businesses show only when at least 5 share
  • Not yet: sharing opens once the consent terms and the data processing agreement are ready

Reports, sheets and embeds

Figures you can put to your board and members

The A4 sheet puts the region’s figures on one page: local share per market, the group against the pilot area and the sights without a local provider. There is one for the region and for the areas in it, in every edition from the first.

  • Embed, from the first edition: the same overview as a ready block on your own website, with the source stated.
  • Data, from the first edition: the figures for your region as data files, for your own analysis.

Sharing

Members choose what they share

  1. The business turns sharing on Sharing is off until the business turns it on, in its own Lykt account.
  2. The business picks the scope Summary, questions or sources. Each part is chosen on its own.
  3. You see only that The destination company sees only what the business chose to share.
  4. Sharing can be withdrawn The business can turn it off at any time. All sharing is logged.
  • Figures across businesses show only when at least 5 share.
  • Shared data never changes the index figures, the business groups or who is recommended.

Not yet: sharing opens once the consent terms and the data processing agreement are ready. Until then no business shares data with the destination company.

How it looks for the business

Public and paid

The headline is public. The depth is the product.

From the first edition, planned for January 2027, three things are public and free for everyone: the headline per region (local share with interval and comparison group), the map and the method. Everything else on this page is the AI index for destination companies.

Independence

The index is the same for everyone

  • The index never runs on request.
  • The question set is fixed, the same for every region.
  • No region and no business is ranked (method rule M-15).
  • Nobody gets early access. Everyone gets the figures at the same time.
  • The publication date is announced in advance.
Why the separation

The index is only worth something if nobody can buy better figures. The workspace builds on the index, but the index never builds on the workspace.

Method

How it is measured

  1. A fixed question set The index uses a fixed set of questions, the same for every region and every edition.
  2. Several AI engines The questions go to six AI engines. Every figure is shown with the basis it rests on.
  3. Corrections If you find an error, the index has a channel of its own for corrections.

Pilot

What the pilot includes

  • Up to 100 of your own questions, run about every 30 days on six AI engines
  • The index for your region in depth from the first edition, and the member view once sharing opens
  • Start from the region’s questions in the index, and add your own
  • We set up the login for you
  • The price is agreed with each destination company

The pilot gives you the workspace, not early access to index figures.

Questions

What destination companies ask

Can we order our own measurement?

Not of the index. The index never runs on request, and the question set is the same for everyone. Your own questions run in the workspace, and they never affect the index.

Do we see our members’ data?

Only what a business itself chooses to share, in the scope it picks. Sharing can be withdrawn at any time, and all sharing is logged. Figures across businesses show only when at least five share.

Do you rank the regions?

No. No region and no business is ranked. The map shows whether a region is clearly above, clearly below or not clearly different from the pilot area average, and businesses are shown in groups, alphabetically.

What sets this apart from other AI tools for destinations?

Lykt is built for Norwegian tourism regions and municipalities and measures in the guests’ own markets and languages. Businesses, agencies and destination companies will see the same figures, linked by organisation number (planned). And the index ranks neither regions nor businesses.

When does the index go public?

The first edition is planned for January 2027. The date is announced in advance, and everyone gets the figures at the same time.

What does it cost?

The pilot has no list price. The price is agreed with each destination company, and the list price is set after the pilots.

Can we download the data?

Yes, from the first edition the data for your region is included. There is no public download. Researchers and reviewers who need to check the figures get the dataset on request.

Which AI engines?

The workspace runs the same engines as the index: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude with web search, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews.

What are sample figures?

The figures on this page come from a sample edition with invented values and region names. They show what the figures look like, not how any region actually stands. The headline per region is published for everyone at the same time.
